Dr. Sandra Sluberski wants you to know that there's several places --- that would love to have you facilitate sound baths, that no one else is currently serving (paid or free).
Many public libraries would love to have you host a sound bath and/or give a talk about sound bath, and pay you a fee to do so. Charging a modest $50 travel fee, she uses conference rooms where participants bring mats, dim the lights, and immerse in a one-hour session.
This approach extends to unexpected venues: cancer centers, where patients and staff find relief; summer programs for children with autism or ADHD, calmed by low-frequency bowls; and even wildlife sanctuaries (in our interview, Dr. Sandra told a story of playing a singing bowl in her backyard, causing a white tailed deer to amble over, linger and then slowly wander off).
And that's just the start -- Dr. Sandra is many things, amongst a beloved teacher at the Ohm Store's Sound School.

Bowls as Individuals with Personalities: Dr. Sandra views singing bowls as unique entities, their tones shaped by shape, weight, and imperfections. Rather than forcing a pristine rim sound, she adapts to each bowl’s “personality,” often striking gently for a more gentle wash of sound.
Open Tooth Hum for Vocal Confidence: Addressing reluctance to use voice—echoing the hesitation we have seen in many new sound healers—she offers the “open tooth hum” (lips closed, teeth apart, as if holding a golf ball). This toning technique, drawn from "Toning" by Laurel Elizabeth Keys, fills the skull with resonance, building confidence. In sound baths, she chants softly, like “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” (may all beings be happy and free), tapping into lullaby memories for a soothing effect.
Physiological Benefits of Humming/Chanting: A daily 15-minute humming or chanting practice lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and stress, potentially extending life and reducing medication needs (with medical guidance). This scientific insight motivates personal practice and underscores sound’s healing potential for enthusiasts.
Selfless Philosophy of Sound Healing: Dr. Sandra sees facilitators as “hollow jugs of clay,” pouring knowledge for others’ restoration, not personal glory. This servant-hearted approach, honed over decades of teaching, inspires a purpose-driven practice that resonates with her audience.
Cultural Expansion with Multilingual Mantras: She broadens sound healing with mantras in Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic, and Norwegian (e.g., “Jeg elsker deg, min venn” meaning “I love you, my friend”), enhancing accessibility. This multicultural layer intrigues enthusiasts and encourages facilitators to explore diverse traditions.
Overcoming Shyness Through Practice: Reflecting on her introverted youth, she overcame shyness to perform and teach, assuring that audiences won’t “throw tomatoes.” This personal growth, tied to leaving ego behind, offers hope to hesitant practitioners like Irons.
Dr. Sandra is a faculty member in The Ohm Store's Sound School -- with an added lectures this time around, and a weekly live Town Hall style Q and A where all students will be invited to meet with her weekly during special "office hours."
